Swatches--Sally Girl Purple Duochrome Polish + Essie Bangle Jangle

This is a new polish that I picked up from Sally Beauty a couple days ago. The duochrome in the bottle is mainly what made me want to try it out. This is a Sally Girl nail polish and as you can see from the picture, it's a very tiny bottle that they sell for less than a dollar.
I don't believe these polishes come with names. I wasn't able to find it on the packaging.

Anyhoo, I was slightly disappointed when I realized how sheer it was after I swatched it on my nails. On the swatches I have 3 coats and you can still see my nail line. I still think it's pretty though. The duochrome is subtle but noticeable. It flashes from purple to pink, silver, and teal. It reminded me of Zoya Adina, though it's not quite the same either.

Since the Sally Girl polish was sheer, I decided to layer it over a more opaque polish to see how it would turn out. I just realized that I have never swatched this polish for you. This is Bangle Jangle from Essie, a light greyish purple with creme finish. I have just one coat and its pretty smooth and opaque. The formula is very good on this polish.

Here's Sally Girl on top of Bangle Jangle. Altough still pretty, I now prefer the Sally Girl polish on its own. With an opaque color underneath the color looks a little more flat and loses the depth it had when it was swatched on its own. The duochrome effect is also reduced.

What do you think? Do you like it with or without Bangle Jangle?

  1. Hey, I just bought this color and I too, was disappointed with how sheer it was. Then I put it over black. It's completely, insanely gorgeous. Generally most duochromes look better over black than by themselves. Try it :)
